1. History and Background:
When the B2B API (the one that WP uses) was released in 2010, the information included about visas matched the information provided via the public web service.
In 2012/13 funding allowed the Department to make enhancements to the VEVO systems. These enhancements included the following new fields in the visa information provided:
• Visa applicant role – Primary (main visa applicant) or Secondary (family member dependent) &
• Location of client (inside or outside Australia) at the time the check was made.
Other changes, not relevant to the Organisations Work Entitlements were also included in the enhancements.
As the project progressed, technical resources had to be allocated to more critical legislative based system changes, which meant the API enhancements (the access that WP has) were unable to be incorporated. With the introduction of the new Student Visa (subclass 500), and the ‘Education sector’ information in 2015, the Department again encountered limited technical resources which meant the technical support team were only able to make changes to the VEVO web service.
2. Visa Conditions:
All VEVO systems provide the same information / wording when providing visa conditions in the return. In the March 2019 Departmental system change release, visa condition content was included in the new Home Affairs website. As part of the inclusion of this visa condition information, system changes were made; so all VEVO systems now call the website for the condition information required in the provided visa information. This change ensured a more consistent approach with visa condition messaging across the different client contact channels.
These conditions and classifications are shown as links on the WorkPro certificate.
