As a non-Australian citizen, the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) requires you to complete a work rights check as a Commencement of Identity document.
There are a couple of possible reasons why your work rights check has been rejected. You will need to review and correct it before you can proceed with your police check:
1. Have you entered the required data for the work rights check exactly as it appears on your passport? All data needs to match.
2. Do you have a new passport and have you left Australia on that new passport? If you have not used the passport to leave Australia, the new passport information will not be entered in to the VEVO database yet as it is only registered if you leave the country or you contact VEVO and give them the new passport details, so the search can't be completed.
Please contact VEVO on 131 881 and provide them your passport number. They can check if the passport is registered, and if it is not, they can register the details immediately. Once this is done, you will be able to complete the work rights check and finalise your police check application.
3. Are you in Australia? If not, you will need to wait until you in Australia to complete the work rights check, as you need to be registered on VEVO as being in the country. This is only possible if you are in Australia.
