For step-by-step support and guidance to complete a Citizenship and Work Rights Check, please refer to our User Guide.

Quick Tips before you start your Citizenship and Work Rights Check:

1. The size of each file you are uploading needs to be less than 5 megabytes, and each one must be either a JPG, PNG or PDF format.

2. If you are a non-Australian citizen you need to upload a copy of your international passport. It MUST be the passport you used most recently to travel into Australia. If you haven't yet used your passport to travel, you will need to call the Department of Home Affairs to register your passport details in the VEVO database that we use to run the check.

3. A work rights check for a non-Australian citizen will only return a result if you are currently in Australia. If you are overseas, the check will need to be completed once you in Australia.

4. If you have changed your name, you will need to combine your proof of name change document and your citizenship document into the one file to upload. This shows the linkage between your existing and previous name.

5. The name that you enter on the check must match the name on your passport.

6. If you do not have a surname, please enter your first name into both the First/Given and Surname sections.
